The Alabama Cruise Terminal is in downtown Mobile at 201 S. Water Street, half a mile from I-10 and 6 miles from the junction of I-65 and I-10, the terminal says. Every route below ends on Water Street, and cars enter the terminal from Eslava Street. All 59 sailings on our schedule leave from this one terminal.
This site is independent. It is not the terminal, the City of Mobile, which owns it, or Carnival. The directions are the terminal's own, from its directions page on 4 November 2026.
| Coming from | Interstate in | Last turns |

What is the address of the Mobile cruise terminal?
201 South Water Street, Mobile, Alabama 36602. That is the address on the terminal's FAQ page and on Carnival's list of terminals. The line of cars waiting to enter forms at 22 Eslava Street, according to the terminal's parking page, and a police officer or parking attendant directs you into the garage from there.
Put the street address into your GPS, then follow the terminal's signs for the last few blocks. They point you to baggage drop-off and parking.
How do you get to the Mobile cruise terminal from I-65?
Stay on I-65 south to I-10, then take I-10 east toward downtown and leave at Exit 26A, Canal Street, on the right. At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Water Street, a four-lane road with a median that curves north. Stay on it for two blocks. The garage and terminal are on the right.
The terminal also gives a second route, on I-165:
- At I-65 Exit 9, take the ramp on the right onto I-165 south toward Prichard and downtown Mobile, 5.2 miles.
- Keep straight onto North Water Street for 0.7 miles, then onto South Water Street for 0.1 miles.
- After you pass Monroe Street, make a U-turn back toward the terminal, following the signs.
- Turn right onto Eslava Street and enter the terminal.
Both route planners we used send drivers from Birmingham, Montgomery and Nashville this way, on I-165.
How do you get to the Mobile cruise terminal from I-10?
From the west, stay on I-10 east almost to downtown and take Exit 26A, Canal Street. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Water Street and go two blocks, and the terminal is on the right. From the east, cross the Mobile Bayway, go through the George Wallace Tunnel and take Exit 25A, Texas Street.
From Texas Street, follow the signs back onto I-10 east. Stay in the right lane up the on-ramp and take Exit 26A, Canal Street, then turn right onto Water Street and follow it two blocks to the terminal.
Drivers from New Orleans, Baton Rouge and the Mississippi coast come in from the west. Drivers from Pensacola and the Florida Panhandle come in from the east, and the airport guide covers flying into Pensacola instead.
Do you drive through a tunnel to reach the Mobile cruise terminal?
Only if you come from the east. The terminal's directions for drivers heading west on I-10, from Pensacola and Florida, go through the George Wallace Tunnel before the Texas Street exit. Its directions from I-65, from I-165 and from the west on I-10 reach the terminal without a tunnel.
Mobile has a second tunnel, the Bankhead. ALDOT names it as the way across for Government Street, US 90, when the eastbound Wallace Tunnel is shut. ALDOT closes the Wallace Tunnel at night for maintenance from time to time. The latest notice we read shut the eastbound tunnel on 22 October 2026 from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am, with Water Street traffic sent over the Cochrane-Africatown Bridge.
ALDOT also inspects both tunnels every two years, which it says is required, and those closures were overnight too. If you plan to drive through the night to reach a morning embarkation, check ALDOT's traffic notices before you leave. If you drive an RV or tow a trailer, read the signs on the approach to either tunnel.
How long is the drive to Mobile from nearby cities?
About 144 miles and a little over two hours from downtown New Orleans, and about 257 miles and roughly four hours from Birmingham. The table covers seven cities, measured from each downtown to 201 S. Water Street by the OSRM and Valhalla route planners on 4 November 2026. Neither planner counts traffic or stops.
| From | Main route | Miles | Drive time without stops |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Orleans | I-10 east | 144 | 2 hr 10 min to 2 hr 40 min |
| Montgomery | I-65 south, then I-165 | 169 | 2 hr 30 min to 3 hr 5 min |
| Jackson, Mississippi | US 49 south to Hattiesburg, then US 98 east | 188 | 3 hr to 3 hr 50 min |
| Baton Rouge | I-12 east to Slidell, then I-10 east | 201 | 3 hr to 3 hr 40 min |
| Birmingham | I-65 south, then I-165 | 257 | 3 hr 45 min to 4 hr 40 min |
| Atlanta | I-85 south to Montgomery, I-65 south, then I-165 | 330 | 4 hr 50 min to 6 hr |
| Nashville | I-65 south, then I-165 | 447 | 6 hr 35 min to 8 hr 10 min |
The two planners agree on distance to within 2 miles but not on time, so we show both. Add time for fuel, food and city traffic. Carnival's embarkation-day article tells cruisers to allow extra time for an unfamiliar city and for traffic jams.
From Atlanta or Nashville, a drive of five to eight hours on the morning of the cruise leaves little slack. A night in Mobile first is the calmer plan, and the hotels guide covers where to stay.
Where do you drop off passengers and bags at the Mobile cruise terminal?
At the terminal's own garage, which you enter from Eslava Street. The attached deck has six covered drop-off and pick-up lanes. A police officer or parking attendant directs you in, and a stevedore unloads and tags your bags and sends them to the ship. Keep your travel documents with you, not in your luggage.
Carnival says its luggage tags must be on your bags before you reach the terminal. It also says curbside porters customarily get $1 a bag and are not Carnival employees.
If someone is dropping you off, say goodbye at the car. The terminal works under Homeland Security rules and has no place where people who are not sailing can park, wait and wave the ship off. Drivers cannot park in the garage to wait.
For pick-up on the last morning, the terminal suggests calling your passengers and arriving once they have cleared customs. On the itineraries we read, the ship is back in Mobile at 8:00 am.
Where do you park when you drive to a Mobile cruise?
In the terminal's garage, which charged $23 a day for a regular-sized vehicle when we checked the terminal's parking page on 4 November 2026. Its FAQ page still showed $21 that day. Parking must be paid in full before you board, and your license plate number is your proof of payment.
These were the rates on the parking page on 4 November 2026:
| Vehicle | Rate a day |
|---|---|
| Regular size: any car, minivan, truck, SUV or motorcycle that fits a space 8 feet 6 inches tall, 8 feet 6 inches wide and 16 feet long | $23 |
| RVs and campers | $46 |
| Buses | $69 |
Taller vehicles that cannot fit a standard space go to oversize spaces inside the terminal, the parking page says. You can prepay online, text to pay, use the Premium Parking app or pay at a kiosk. Do not back into a space.
When the garage is full, drop your bags and your party on the first floor of the terminal. The driver then goes on to the overflow garage on the 5th floor of 100 Canal Street, and a shuttle brings the driver back. Disabled veterans park free. The parking guide has the details.
What time should you arrive when you drive to a Mobile cruise?
At the arrival appointment you choose during Carnival's online check-in, which must be done by midnight Eastern time the night before you sail. The terminal's gates open for embarkation at 10:00 am. On the itineraries we read the ship leaves at 3:30 pm, and Carnival takes checked bags until 2 hours before departure.
Cabins are not open until 1:30 pm, the terminal says, so hand the stevedores anything you do not want to carry around the ship. After parking, walk to the glass doors on the north side of the garage and take the elevator or stairs down to the lobby, where staff check your documents before screening and check-in.
The terminal guide covers the building itself, and the first-time cruiser FAQ covers the rest of embarkation day.
